Sometimes a band is a Batman wannabe, two Actual Real Life Wizards, a Guy put in so many Situations, and then just the nicest guy you’ll ever meet. And then they get together and make music that FUCKS and also makes me openly weep
Okay but I legit actually love this sort of thing when it’s an intentional part of the story. I feel like it can say a few things about a villain when they can convince you, a viewer, the person most likely to be cynical about this setting that you do not live in, that their plan is valid. This is because it inherently means that:
1) The villain’s origins and motivations feel like something that make sense. At minimum, that means the writer did a good job with their worldbuilding, enough so to get you invested in this character to understand what makes them tick.
OR
2) The villain is legitimately so charismatic that they can get you on their side even when you know better, if only momentarily. Kudos to people who can pull this one off well, ‘cause it’s hard! But when it works, it’s really satisfying!
When we talk about being fat-positive and we say, “weight is not an indication of health,” I will reblog it. But I want us to also say, “health is not an indication of value.”
I could be at any weight and I will never be healthy, because I am chronically ill. Someone might be chronically ill and fat, or they might be chronically ill and not fat, and it really doesn’t matter.
When you make it about health, you’re saying health is the pinnacle of human achievement, and you’re shitting on those of us for whom health will always be a pipe dream.
